This one is special.
An extremely brief moment in time, perfectly positioned between the comedown of our preluding troubles and the rise of the ones that would follow, this configuration of people only happened in this iteration once.
Having pulled all the big gear out of the basement following yet another biblical flood, we were able to spread out the electronic gear and jam in a way the space hadn't allowed us to before. Without the usual clutter of drums and guitars, nor the unbearable lightness of possibility that the computer permits, we were free to go inward with what we had.
While it only came together this once, these jams gave us so much hope we had to put a name to it: "Opposed to Posing". I'm sure that was Sasha's idea, but I can't remember what it meant. Anyways, between Mitch's bubbly yet abrasive synth performance and Sasha's unmatched ability to spit out some of the most clever and witty lyrics in town with seemingly no inhibitions, they made my job on the TR-808 and OP-1 easy. Lightning in a bottle. Thank god these recordings exist I'd be heartbroken if these were lost to time.
Unfortunately, they had to be recorded all in one line via the PA so I was never able to properly mix them, but that's part of the character I think.
