His Head West is the solo project of New York based musician, sculptor, and photographer Carter Nyhan. With influences ranging from LCD Soundystem, Charles Bukowski, and Seamus Heavy, to King Krule, ATCQ, Arthur Russell, Serge Gainsbourg, Slint, Shipping News, and Bill Evans, Carter blends elements of Electronica, Punk, and Jazz to create a fresh idiosyncratic sound.

Carter has been a drummer, producer, and bandleader for his band Control the Sound for over 10 years playing punchy hard hitting r&b, and funk, and in more recent years joined the sweetly abrasive noise pop rock group Moderate Rock, as well as producing their debut EP "FIND OUT" at his very own Yellow Door studios in Brooklyn, NY. He has performed at many NYC staples such as Brooklyn Steel, Brooklyn Bowl, the Shrine, Mercury Lounge, Bowery Electric and more. Carter independently released his produced, and performed debut album "A YEAR AS A MEASUREMENT" in December of 2021.
